Otocinclus vittatus

Check Otocinclus

Otocinclus, affectionately called "Otos," are tiny suckermouth catfish that are unmatched at consuming soft green and brown algae from glass, leaves, and decorations. These gentle fish should be kept in groups of at least four and do best in mature tanks with established biofilm. They are peaceful, unobtrusive, and perfect companions for shrimp and small community fish.

Food

Hikari Algae Wafers

Spirulina-rich wafers that provide essential supplemental nutrition for Otocinclus when tank algae runs low. Leave a small piece near the group in the evening. Regular supplementation is critical — starvation is the most common cause of death in Otos.

Hikari Tropical Sinking Wafers

Plant-based sinking wafers that provide additional nutrition for Otos. Their firm texture holds together in water, allowing Otos to rasp on them throughout the day at their preferred slow pace.
